HealthShots connected with Dr Blossom Kochhar, Chairman, Blossom Kochhar team of companies to find out how to wash Holi colors from hair to prevent any damage.

Holi colors are bad for hair
They come in many bright colors, making them attractive. However, covering your hair with Holi colors can be very dangerous. Dr. Kochhar says that they have different dangerous chemicals such as lead, zinc, copper sulphate, aluminum bromide, mercury and asbestos. They are used to make colored powders that can make your hair dry and brittle.
Ways to remove Holi colors from hair
If you love your hair, you should coat your tresses heavily before the color bursts. So, it is not only the color of Holi, but also the oil in your hair that needs to be washed off. The expert suggests that you wash your hair at least twice so that the dirt and oil are washed away from your hair. But you also need to keep moisture in your hair, so use natural ingredients that will fight dryness.
Here’s what you can add to your shampoo and use before using your cleanser!
1. Hair mask with vinegar and milk
Take 1 tablespoon of Glycerine, 1 teaspoon of vinegar, a little milk, shampoo and conditioner in a bowl and mix well to make a pack. Apply it to your hair and leave it for about 20 minutes and then wash it off.
2. Hair mask with egg and curd
The benefits of using curd on hair are many. So, to nourish your hair, make a paste by mixing two spoons of curd and one egg. Apply this paste from the roots to the tips of your hair and keep for about 30 minutes. After that, you can wash your hair with shampoo.
3. Aloe vera gel
Aloe vera is good for hair growth, but it also relieves dryness. All you need is aloe vera gel to use on your scalp and roots. Let it sit there for 10 minutes and then wash it off.

4. Hair mask with lemon
Lemon, which has acidic properties, is perfect for your hair mask, says Dr Kochhar. Lemon juice can help in removing dandruff and also works as a perfect ingredient to remove Holi colors. Take a bowl and add curd and just a few drops of lemon. Mix the two and apply the mixture gently on your scalp. You can massage gently with light hands, as this will help balance the acid-alkaline balance in your hair. Leave it on for about 10 minutes and wash it off with your shampoo followed by conditioner.
Tips to follow after washing your hair
You can do more than use a hair mask after playing with Holi colors.

• You can also apply serum to your hair strands.
• Use a nourishing hair mask at least twice a week to ensure your hair stays healthy, says Dr Kochhar.
• Go to the salon and get a good haircut.
